Pleasant Hill Lake Park, which straddles the border between the counties of Richland and Ashland, offers trails, boating, fishing and hunting. Visitors may also choose to camp in one of the many campsites.
Local 1812Blockhouse readers, however, may feel it’s easier to make their way home and sleep in their own bed. We encourage you to re-think that plan. Two family-friendly campout events have been organized at Pleasant Hill Lake Park for the month of October, offering a variety of activities for campers and a chance to spend a few nights in the great outdoors.
The Harvest Moon Campout is scheduled for the weekend of October 4 and will feature fall-themed events such as hayrides and outdoor cooking. Although this may not be the first thing that comes to your mind when thinking about camping, scheduled events also include karaoke and a movie with free popcorn. Perhaps most fitting for the Harvest Moon Campout is a Johnny Appleseed Campfire planned for Friday night, where Johnny will tell his tales of his travels in Ohio.
The Halloween Campout is scheduled for the weekend of October 11. Participants are encouraged to decorate their camp lot in celebration of Halloween, and voters can pick up ballots in the camp store to vote for the best-decorated site. This campout will also include live owls, pumpkin carving trick-or-treating and a monster costume ball.
