As spring unfolds across Richland County, another important date is quickly approaching—not a holiday or festival, but the deadline to register to vote in the upcoming May 6 Primary and Special Election. That deadline is Monday, April 7, and officials are urging citizens to double-check their registration status now to avoid missing out on their right to vote.

Extended Hours for Last-Minute Registrants

To help residents meet the deadline, the Richland County Board of Elections office, located at 1495 W. Longview Ave., Suite 101, will be open until 9 PM on April 7. After 4 PM, voters must use the lower-level back entrance at the southwest corner of the Longview Center building.

Who Can Register to Vote?

To be eligible to register:

  • You must be a native or naturalized U.S. citizen
  • You must be a resident of Ohio and Richland County for at least 30 days prior to the election
  • You must be at least 18 years old by November 4, 2025, the date of the general election

If you’ve recently moved or changed your name, you must update your registration in person or in writing with the Board of Elections.

Register or Update Online—Fast and Easy

Good news for Ohioans: voter registration and address updates can now be done online at VoteOhio.gov. But don’t wait—April 7 is still the cutoff date for both online and in-person changes.

Where Else Can You Register?

In addition to the Board of Elections office, residents can also register or update their information at the following locations:

  • All Richland County public libraries
  • City and village halls across the county
  • The Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV)
  • The Department of Human Services
  • The Recorder or Treasurer’s Office at the Richland County Courthouse
  • All area high school offices

Registration forms are also downloadable at vote.richlandcountyoh.gov.

Don’t Miss Your Chance to Vote

Whether you’re casting a ballot for local candidates, school levies, or special issues, every vote counts—especially in local elections. Be sure you’re registered by April 7, and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same. In Richland County, your voice matters.
