The City of Mansfield has anounced that the National Arbor Day Foundation has named the City of Mansfield a “Tree City USA” for the 22nd consecutive year. To receive this award, a community and its Shade Tree Commission must demonstrate a commitment to implementing a sound urban forestry policy.

The City of Mansfield Shade Tree Commission has chosen to celebrate these 22 years as a Tree City USA with a very special Arbor Day Celebration on Friday, April 28. The event will take place at 3 North Main Street (corner of North Main and Park Avenue West) in downtown Mansfield.

An Ivory Silk Lilac will be planted as a part of the Shade Tree Commission’s commitment to the downtown tree replacement program for the ongoing revitalization of our downtown. This planting is part of continuing the theme of trees along the North Main Street corridor.

The planting of the Ivory Silk Lilac, generously donated by Alta Florist and Greenhouse, Inc., is the first of two projects planned by the Shade Tree Commission to support and encourage the citizens of Mansfield to celebrate Arbor Day nd beautification efforts in Mansfield.

You are invited to join the Commission by celebrating Arbor Day 2017 with a tree planting of your own and, if your schedule permits, joining in this ceremonial tree planting.
