As travelers on Ohio highways know well, Ohio Department of Transportation road projects seem to be almost everywhere. Now you can have additional insight into where you will run across a stretch of orange cones.
It’s an ambitious year for repairing and adding to Ohio’s highways. The numbers are impressive for 2019:
- Total projects – 1,002
- Total investment — $2.05 billion
- Major projects (over $10 million) – 23
- Safety projects – 246
- Miles of pavement – 5,408
- Bridges – 951
Approximately 90% of this work represents preserving the current road system, with 10% adding to capacity.
OHGO, the state’s interactive website and app that shares up-to-the-minute information about road conditions, accidents, weather hazards, and more, has now added a “future construction” layer to its interface. In addition to current projects in Richland County and elsewhere, visitors to the site can now factor larger construction efforts into their plans.
OHGO is accessible here. The future construction layer can be found by clicking on “Construction” in the “Map Layers” section.
