Families in Richland County can look forward to a wave of excitement on Saturday, June 14, as Charles Mill Marina hosts its annual Kid’s Day from 10:00 AM to noon. Set against the beautiful backdrop of Charles Mill Lake, this event is designed to entertain and educate, blending hands-on fun with water safety awareness for kids of all ages.
Learning to Love the Water
One of the highlights of the morning is the Kid’s Boating Education seminar, which kicks off promptly at 10:00 AM. Children will learn the basics of boating safety in a fun and interactive way, helping them build confidence around the water while emphasizing the importance of life jackets, safe speeds, and responsible behavior on the lake.
Free Rides and Lakeside Smiles
After the seminar, families can climb aboard for free 15-minute pontoon boat rides, giving kids a chance to feel the wind in their hair and experience the thrill of boating. A guardian must accompany each child, and the experience is sure to be a hit.
Whimsy and Wonder All Around
The marina will be buzzing with activity during the event. From face painting and classic games with prizes to a photo booth perfect for capturing summer memories, kids will be surrounded by engaging fun. Adding a touch of magic, real pirates will be roaming the docks, entertaining young adventurers with hearty “ahoys” and playful antics.
Animal Encounters on Land and Lake
In a delightful twist, the event also includes visits from llamas and alpacas courtesy of Shady Lane Alpaca Farm, as well as animals from Gorman Nature Center. These friendly creatures will offer a hands-on opportunity for children to learn about wildlife in a relaxed and engaging setting.
Community Comes Together
Local organizations and businesses are pitching in to make Kid’s Day memorable. There will be giveaways from Outback Steakhouse, State Farm Insurance, Western Southern Bank, and Modern Woodmen. Informative booths from the Richland Soil and Water Conservation District and Richland County Solid Waste will share insights into caring for the natural environment.
More Than a Marina
Charles Mill Marina isn’t just about fun events. With over 325 docking slips, it’s a full-service facility for boaters, offering parts, service, fuel, live bait, fishing gear, snacks, clothing, and gifts. Whether you’re visiting for Kid’s Day or launching your own lake adventure, the marina team, including factory-certified technicians, is ready to help.
