Mansfield Senior Has A New Athletic Director

Jennifer Lepard, a 14-year special education teacher in Mansfield City Schools, is the new athletic director at Mansfield Senior High School. Lepard’s appointment was confirmed by the board of education Tuesday night on a 3-1 vote that encompassed a wide range of Superintendent Brian Garverick’s personnel recommendations. Renda Cline, Sheryl Weber and Judy Forney voted for the personnel actions. Chris Elswick voted no. Gary Feagin was absent. Read More

Senior Has New Head Basketball Coach

A standout player at Mansfield Senior High School and Morehead State University is the new varsity basketball coach at Senior High. The appointment of Marquis L. Sykes was announced Tuesday by Superintendent Brian Garverick after several applicants were interviewed by a team of administrators. He succeeds J. T. Reese as the Tygers’ head coach. Richland Schools Change Divisions

In a continuing attempt to bring competitive balance to high school sports, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OSHAA) announced changes this week to divisional playoff classifications. Gone is the traditional model which included only enrollment as a factor; other factors come into play. Of the 718 schools that play football in Ohio, 75 schools moved up to a higher division due to competitive balance and/or a higher base enrollment number. Read More
