Record Number Of Violent Crime Indictments Filed In Northern District Of Ohio

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio filed a record number of violent crime indictments in Fiscal Year 2019 as part of a strategy to help drive down homicides and fatal overdoses. This is reflected in places like Mansfield, which has experienced a decrease in one of those areas. The office indicted 1,061 people in FY 2019. That includes 308 people indicted for violent crime offenses, the highest number in the office’s records, which date back to 2004. Read More

Area Unemployment Numbers Remain Steady

In the most recent unemployment rate report issued through the Ohio Department of Family Services, north central Ohio’s jobless numbers remained steady. As for the entire state, Ohio's unemployment rate was 4.2 percent in September 2019, up from 4.1 percent in August. Ohio’s nonagricultural wage and salary employment decreased 1,500 over the month, from a revised 5,592,700 in August to 5,591,200 in September 2019. Read More

Mansfield Police Seek Assistance In Locating Children Services Impersonators

For the second time in recent weeks, police are warning of individuals claiming to be from Richland County Children Services who have approached Mansfield residents in their homes and attempted to gain entry. The full news release from the Mansfield Police is as follows: On Tuesday at approximately 1620 hours [4:20 PM], the Mansfield Division of Police responded to the 1700 block of Middle-Bellville Road in reference to three individuals claiming to be from Richland County Children Services (RCCS). The two white females and one white male advised the resident that they needed to come inside her home and speak to her about an open case she had with their agency. Read More

Richland Newhope Announces New Board Member

Nathan Black is the newest member of the Richland County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Richland Newhope). Nathan, who was appointed by the Richland County commissioners, took the oath of office during his first board meeting Wednesday.
