]The sound of games and the smell of pizza will be a thing of the past at Richland Mall, as the local Chuck E Cheese operation is closing its doors.

The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in a filing this past week. In doing so, it identified some 45 stores nationwide that it does not intend to reopen. These represent almost ten percent of the chain’s 550 stores.

Those locations include three in Ohio — in Lima, Columbus, and the Richland Mall Chuck E Cheese in Ontario. Each was deemed to be underperforming in comparison to others.

Chuck E Cheese opened in 1977 in San Jose, California. As described by Wikipedia, “The establishment serves pizza and other menu items, complemented by arcade games, amusement rides, and animatronic displays as a focus of family entertainment.”
