It was announced on Friday from many sources that Payless ShoeSource is closing all remaining retail locations, a decision which impacts over 2,000 stores — including the location in Ontario.

The company will be holding liquidation sales starting on Sunday in most locations, and all operations are set to be finished by May. The online, e-commerce version of Payless will be shuttered as well.

At its peak just a handful of years ago, Payless ShoeSource had over 4,000 stores in multiple locations. It underwent a bankruptcy proceeding in 2017.

On Friday, the following was posted on the Payless ShoeSource Associates Public Group page on Facebook: “Just completely disgusted that we have to read about our stores closing in the news and not even hear it from our own company.”

Payless has a location at 701 N. Lexington-Springmill Road in Ontario.
