The Mansfield-Richland Area Education Foundation, also known as the “Chamber Foundation”, has announced that Bill Sharp will retire from the organization in October where he has served as the Director since 2000.

In this role, Sharp has overseen a number of highly successful programs such as Leadership Unlimited, Young Leaders Institute, Economic Club and Inside Richland County. In 2015, Sharp launched the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA! Richland), an innovative program which teaches students how to launch and run their own businesses.

“I have had the best job in Richland County,” said Sharp. “The opportunity to work with so many capable and involved leaders has been inspiring, and, along with the inception of YEA! Richland, I have tremendous faith and excitement about the future of our county. When I was hired, I never expected such a wonderful opportunity (and fun) was before me.”

His role as Chamber Foundation Director caps a successful career which also includes work in the aircraft and media industries. He is also highly involved in the community and serves on the Board of Directors for the Mansfield Art Center, and is a member and past president of the Mansfield Rotary Club.

“Bill has impacted the Foundation in so many positive ways,” said Foundation Board Chair Nick Gesouras. “The growth of the Leadership Unlimited program and now the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA! Richland), which is off to a successful start, are just a few examples of his hard work.”

“Bill has had a tremendous presence in our community in this role and he is leaving some huge shoes to fill,” said Jodie Perry, Chamber President. “The programs of the Foundation are some of the most beloved by the community, and Bill’s influence is a huge part of that.”

The Chamber and the Foundation are working together to find a replacement for the position. The job description and other information for the Foundation Manager position can be found on the Chamber’s website, www.richlandareachamber.com. Interested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter to Chamber President Jodie Perry via email at[email protected] by September 7th.
