December is an excellent time to consider launching a new business, as well as taking care of the one already in place. Mansfield’s Braintree Business Development Center has workshops designed to address both of those fronts during the month of December.

On December 6 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the Center presents “Startup Legal Clinic with Jack Stewart.” According to the event site, “Startups face a number of legal issues and questions, and there is no reason to try to go it alone. Business structure, legal compliance, contract law, distributor agreements, and other decisions should not be a matter of guesswork. So join us for this two hour free-of-charge law clinic for startups and other relatively new businesses.

Spend two hours with Attorney and CPA Jack Stewart as he reviews the basic legal concerns for startups and relatively new businesses. After this session Mr. Stewart is willing to arrange some individual meetings at no-charge. So take advantage of the opportunity to interact with a startup law specialist.”

Online registration is here.

LinkedIn is All about Business is being presented on December 7 from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM. “Participants in this session will not only learn the basics of a personal LinkedIn presence, but more importantly, is LinkedIn a platform your business needs to be using. The presenter is Bob Leach of the Braintree Business Development Center.” Click here for more information.

Then, on December 13, “Year End Tax Workship with Bill Harvey” will be offered. “It’s not too late to mitigate your tax liabilities for 2016. And it’s not too early to plan for your 2017 taxes. There are constant changes in the tax code that small businesses need to be aware of. CPA Bill Harvey is attuned to the needs of startups and can help you navigate your way through the tax code

At this free-of-charge workshop CPA Bill Harvey will help you to better plan for taxes with some realistic strategies that still impact your 2016 taxes. You can also arrange an individual meeting (also at no charge), after the two hour seminar.”
