🦅 Lead exposure threatens rehabilitated birds
Published Monday: More than three-quarters of the birds admitted to the Ohio Bird Sanctuary test positive for lead exposure, according to sanctuary staff.
Birds of prey can ingest bullet fragments while feeding on unrecovered deer or discarded remains. Wildlife specialists say hunters can reduce that risk by choosing non-lead ammunition such as copper. Read Monday’s Richland Source report.
🏫 Shelby school board recognizes students tonight
Friday preview, happening Monday: The Shelby Board of Education meets at 6:00 PM in the David A. Jones Little Theater, 109 W. Smiley Avenue.

🏠 Domestic Violence Shelter adjusts services
Weekend carryover: Tina Turner has been appointed executive director of the Domestic Violence Shelter of Richland County and will begin September 25.
Funding delays and lower-than-expected fundraising revenue led the organization to eliminate 18 positions effective September 17. The shelter and its crisis hotline remain available around the clock, although community outreach and education programs are paused. The hotline number is 419-774-5840. 🍕 Three Mansfield Domino’s locations remain closed
September 14 carryover: Thirteen North Central Ohio Domino’s restaurants connected with Mile High Pizza Company have closed, including locations on Ashland Road, Lexington Avenue and Trimble Road in Mansfield.
