McDonald Inducted Into Ohio Senior Citizens Hall Of Fame

On Thursday night, membership in the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame grew to a total of 474 with the induction of 12 outstanding older Ohioans at a special ceremony in the Ohio Statehouse Atrium in Columbus.

County Pharmacies Participating In Effort To Reduce Senior Falling

Certain types of medications and drug combinations can cause dizziness, drowsiness and confusion and could contribute to a life-changing fall in older adults. The Ohio Department of Aging, through its STEADY U Ohio initiative, is partnering with the Ohio Pharmacists Association, Ohio’s colleges of pharmacy, and pharmacies around the state to help older Ohioans and their caregivers understand and minimize the risk of falling potentially caused by the medicines they take to remain healthy. The AARP Driver Safety Program, sponsored by Richland Public Health, will have its last class of 2017 on Tuesday, November 14. The class will be in the Corley Room (lower level, rear parking lot, back entrance) at Richland Public Health, 555 Lexington Ave., Mansfield.

The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation’s first and largest classroom refresher course for motorists age 50 and older. The class is a one-day four-hour course. The course uses the “Smart Driver” information that was completely revised in 2014 with new material and videos. More…

Certain types of medications and drug combinations can cause dizziness, drowsiness and confusion and could contribute to a life-changing fall in older adults. To help Ohioans understand and minimize this risk, the STEADY U Ohio initiative and the Ohio Older Adult Falls Prevention Coalition have partnered with 36 local pharmacies and other community partners to provide free prescription consultations to commemorate National Falls Prevention Awareness Day on Sept. 22.
