Mansfield City Schools Gains New Master Teacher, Retains Two Others

Another Mansfield City Schools teacher has achieved Master Teacher designation, as defined by the State of Ohio, while two others have successfully renewed their Master Teacher status.

Malabar Students Submit Anti-Sweet Potato Petition

Editor’s Note: I cannot resist sharing that the person posting this story on 1812Blockhouse greatly dislikes both sweet potatoes and, unfortunately, watermelon.

For some fourth-graders at Malabar Intermediate School, the final days of the school year included a hands-on exercise in citizen action, triggered by dislike for sweet potato fries on the cafeteria menu.

Two Local Recipients Of Large Grants For Language And Literacy

More than $33 million was awarded Wednesday by the Ohio Department of Education to 46 school districts and consortiums of districts to improve the language and literacy development of our state’s children.

Recipients included the Mansfield-based Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center (MOESC), which serves students in Richland, Crawford, and Morrow Counties, as well as Mansfield City Schools. More…

Free Lunches Available Next Year At Mansfield Schools

All students in Mansfield City Schools will have access to free lunches during the 2018-2019 school year, regardless of family income level.

The Board of Education on Tuesday approved the district’s participation in the Ohio Department of Education’s community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program. That 5-0 vote formally authorized food service manager Lauren Ellsworth to submit the required application to have the program in place by the first day of school on Aug. 23. Kindergarten Registration For Fall 2018 Begins Next Week

Mansfield City Schools Kindergarten registration for the 2018-2019 school year will be held at each of the district’s elementary schools from April 16 through June 3. Children must be 5 years old on or before August 1.
