Three Year Window Project At Malabar Nears Completion

A three-year window replacement project at Malabar Intermediate School will be completed this summer with new windows for classrooms and the library bordering the rear courtyard.

Sensory Tools Now Available At Mansfield Schools Elementary Buildings

Teachers in all kindergarten through third-grade classrooms now have special sensory tools to help students who have difficulty paying attention, focusing on their work or completing tasks on time.

Dahni Reynolds, Mansfield City Schools’ board certified behavior analyst, reviewed the tools with Springmill STEM Elementary teachers on Friday, completing a week of training for staff at each elementary and the Spanish Immersion School. The sensory materials range from weighted lap pads to core disks (sensory seats) and from visual timers to stress balls and fidgets. Mansfield Schools Cancels Staff In-Service Day

According to the adopted 2018-2019 school year calendar, Mansfield Schools teachers were set for an In-Service Day this coming Friday, March 8, which would also be a vacation day for students.

That situation has now changed. Due to the number of school closings which have been taken this year, March 8 will now be a regular school day. Students are therefore expected to attend school that day. More…


Board Of Education Approves Severance Plan

The Mansfield City Schools Board of Education approved an Employee Severance Plan (ESP) on Tuesday night as a proactive cost-saving step to help avoid steep cuts in educational programs and potential layoffs.

The district projects that approximately 40 employees who are at or near the top of the pay scale will voluntarily accept the ESP, reducing the number of high-salaried staff while maintaining the highest possible educational standards. Security Cameras Coming To Malabar Intermediate School

The Ohio State University at Mansfield Dean/Director Norman Jones was the keynote speaker at the Mansfield NAACP Freedom Banquet on Saturday, October 27 and took the opportunity to talk about a partnership that could have a big impact for African American students in the Mansfield City School District. Jones announced a new collaboration between Ohio State Mansfield and Mansfield City Schools that creates a pipeline for African American students to earn their Bachelor’s degree with licensure in Education through Ohio State.
