The Mansfield Division of Police announces the arrests of two individuals believed responsible for shooting incidents within our city.

On Saturday April 8, Mychael Martin (B/M/26) was arrested in Pensacola, Florida by members of the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Task Force on a “Felonious Assault” warrant out of this agency. Mr. Martin was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. He is a suspect in a shooting a few weeks ago in which the victim was shot several times. More…

Ohio Attorney General Warns About Tax Scams

21 Mar , 2017  

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today warned that more consumers are reporting tax-related scams with about four weeks remaining until the April 18 filing deadline. In 2017, the Ohio Attorney General’s Office has logged more than 150 tax scams thus far in March, compared to 80 in January, and 175 in February.

“As we get further into tax season, we’re seeing more of these scams,” Attorney General DeWine said. “What we want people to remember is that if callers are threatening you, saying you have to pay immediately, or saying they’re going to put you in jail, it’s not the IRS.” More…

Police Seek Information In Reference To Homicide

At 8:26 AM on Thursday, the Mansfield Division of Police responded to 1247 Dillon Rd in reference to a call about a “person possibly in distress” at that location.

Upon Officers’ arrival, they found Denise Reed, a 45 year old white female, inside the residence, deceased. Also located inside the residence was Mrs. Reed’s husband, Michael J. Reed, a 46 year old white male, who was taken into custody in reference to this investigation. More…

Heroin Seized As Search Warrant Yields Mansfield Arrests

16 Feb , 2017  

On February 14, 2017 the METRICH Enforcement Unit assisted by the Mansfield Division of Police executed a search warrant at 151 Ohio St. in the City of Mansfield. The search warrant was signed by the Honorable Judge Ardis. The search warrant was a result of numerous complaints in reference to drug trafficking.

During the search, METRICH detectives seized suspected heroin and an assortment of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments. METRICH detectives arrested and charged Tabatha L. Simmonds and Justin M. Simmonds with several counts each of Trafficking in Drugs. Both were incarcerated at the Richland County Jail where they await their court appearances. More…

Three Sentenced In Federal Court For Robbery, Kidnapping, And Hostage Situation

Three people were recently sentenced to prison for their roles in a 2015 bank robbery, kidnapping and hostage situation, said U.S. Attorney Carole S. Rendon and FBI Special Agent in Charge Stephen D. Anthony.

  • Taylor Crisman, 19, of Galion, was sentenced to 37 years in prison.
  • Chris Hill, 24, of Galion, was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
  • Sarah J. Garrett, 42, of Bucyrus, was sentenced to 2 ½ years in prison.

Crisman broke into the home of the manager of the KeyBank branch in Ontario and held his family hostage at gunpoint on Nov. 5, 2015. More…

Search Warrants Yield Arrest, Counterfeit Cash

On Friday at 10:31 PM, the METRICH Enforcement Unit, assisted by the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at 1813 Richard Drive. The search warrant was signed by the Honorable Judge Ardis, and was the result of a short term investigation in response to several overdoses that have occurred in the Mansfield and Madison Township area. Fentanyl is the suspected cause of the overdoses. Prior to executing the search warrant, METRICH detectives arrest Michael Bolden at an address on Armstrong Avenue in the City of Mansfield. Mansfield Police Seek Assistance In Identifying Suspect

The Mansfield Division of Police responded to an Aggravated Robbery on 01/17/2017 at the First Merit Bank located at 100 Park Avenue West. An unknown black male suspect entered the bank just after 1pm and approached a bank employee at which time he indicated that he possibly had an unknown explosive device and proceeded to rob the bank of an undisclosed amount of money. Upon fleeing the bank, the suspect was observed entering an older black sedan, possibly a Ford LTD or Lincoln model vehicle, at which time he fled eastbound on Park Avenue West. More…

The Mansfield Division of Police is actively investigating a shooting that occurred Monday morning on Florence Avenue.

Police Dispatch received a call from a Corie Patton (white male, age 24) at approximately 0144 hours at which time he advised he had been shot at the incident location. Upon officers’ arrival, Mr. Patton was found in front of 47 Florence Avenue, suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest area. More…
