Yes, you read that correctly. The Squirrel Hillbillies are scrambling to Mansfield this Sunday, all the way from the “urban forest of Pittsburgh’s East End.”

According to their website, the group will “…emerge to share their eclectic mix of acoustic roots music, spanning folk, country and blues. Rabidly social and clawingly curious, they relish opportunities to interact with diverse audiences. It’s time next week for the sound of music and fun beckoning you to The Brickyard and to the June Final Friday Concert.

For the eleventh consecutive year, the last Friday of each month, May through September, brings music, food, and more to downtown Mansfield. From the initial offerings in 2007 that saw a few dozen attendees, the Downtown Mansfield, Inc. hosted Final Friday concerts have grown to attract thousands of music lovers. The Renaissance Theatre will hold its final Teddy Bear Concert of the 2017-2018 Mechanics Bank Education Series on March 18, 2018.  The concert is entitled the “Peter and the Wolf” and features an original script by Michael Thomas performed by Renaissance Theatre actors Maddie Beer and Colton Penwell alongside a string quartet from the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra. MSO And MSYO Team To Present Out Of This World Music

The Mansfield Symphony Orchestra will present its fourth concert of the 2017-2018 OhioHealth Symphony Series, “The Planets” this Saturday, February 10 at 8 PM at the Renaissance Theatre. Under the direction of Octavio Más-Arocas, the event will feature a program anchored by Gustav Holst’s masterwork, “The Planets.”

“The Planets is powerful, breathtaking, beautiful and outright thrilling. We are extremely excited to share this music and the rest of this program with the talented musicians of the Mansfield Symphony Youth Orchestra. MSO Holiday Pops Concert On December 16

The annual Holiday Pops Concert of the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will perform on the stage of the Renaissance Theatre on December 16 at 8 PM. The performance, conducted by Maestro Octavio Más-Arocas and Choral Director Larry Griffin will feature a program of holiday repertoire, closing with a traditional carol sing.

The concert will feature a children’s chorus conducted by Lori Turner as well as Rusty Cates as narrator on the Holcomb arrangement of “’Twas The Night Before Christmas.” As ever, a visit from Santa Claus will take place during the concert and guests will have the opportunity to capture a photo with Santa Claus in the lobby. Combined Choir Concert To Honor Military Veterans

The choirs of Mansfield Senior High and Mansfield Middle School will present “America,” a tribute to military veterans at 7 PM on Thursday, November 9.

The free program in the auditorium will be led by vocal music director Dirk Eachus and vocal music teacher Dalton Phillips. “The concert will be a tribute to those who serve,” Eachus said. “Members of the armed forces will be represented during the program.” More…
