Tourism Day Wednesday At The Ohio Statehouse

In celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week, the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) will join 90 attractions, visitor bureaus, restaurants, lodging, retail, and other tourism businesses exhibiting at Ohio Tourism Day on May 9, as proclaimed by Governor John R. Kasich. Hosted by TourismOhio, Tourism Day encourages visitors to plan their Ohio getaways by showcasing the Ohio experiences families and friends can enjoy. Creative Writing Showcase To Present Area Student Works

The Renaissance Education Department will host its seventh annual MindSprouts Creative Writing Showcase on Thursday, May 17 at 7 PM. The event is free and open to the public, with donations accepted at the door to support Renaissance education programs.  MindSprouts is presented as a part of the Mechanics Bank Education Series.

A variety of student writing will be presented in onstage adaptations of short stories, poems, and plays that were submitted to the MindSprouts Creative Writing Contest. More…

Free Lunches Available Next Year At Mansfield Schools

All students in Mansfield City Schools will have access to free lunches during the 2018-2019 school year, regardless of family income level.

The Board of Education on Tuesday approved the district’s participation in the Ohio Department of Education’s community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program. That 5-0 vote formally authorized food service manager Lauren Ellsworth to submit the required application to have the program in place by the first day of school on Aug. 23. All students already are eligible for free breakfasts at their respective schools. More…
