Local New Year’s Eve revelers may have had a dry evening — once they made it inside, that is. Strong rain and high winds made travel somewhat difficult.

One hundred years ago, on December 31, 1918, the scene was somewhat similar in Mansfield. Sears Closing Another 80 Stores; Ohio Closures Do Not Include Richland Mall Location

As the venerable department store chain Sears continues its shrinkage as it nears possible liquidation, additional closures of both Sears and K Mart locations nationwide have been announced.

These include the two remaining locations in Columbus, at Tuttle Crossing and Polaris Fashion Place, but for the time being the store at Richland Mall is not on that list. More…

Ohio National Guard Top Accomplishments In 2018 Include 179th Airlift Wing Command Change

The Ohio National Guard has issued a list of achievements over the last year, and a bit of history made locally was included. The Guard, as a combat reserve for the U.S. Army and Air Force, deployed more than 800 Soldiers and Airmen in 2018. Locations included the Washington D.C. area, Estonia and Kuwait.

For the second year in a row, the Ohio National Guard supported hurricane recovery efforts. After hurricanes in North Carolina and Florida, Ohio Guard members helped with imagery analysis, command support, and damage assessment and repair; provided a safe haven for Air Force aircraft from the affected states; and flew-in supplies and personnel to the affected areas. The Mansfield Division of Police is asking for the public’s help to locate 14-year-old Ginger Gibbs.

The teenager was last seen on December 7 in the area of Bailey Drive in Mansfield. She has been in contact with her family in the past week and is believed to be in the Mansfield/Richland County area. More…
