Tenth Anniversary Simple Goods Show Coming

The Simple Goods show is celebrating its 10-year anniversary celebration on Saturday, November 5. In honor of this occasion, Simple Goods will include a variety of events prior to and during the show.

Ohio native Candy Looker, a primitive design artist and crafter, established Simple Goods in 2006. With the assistance of her husband, Tom, and sister and brother-in-law, Max and Harry Squires, Candy continued to run Simple Goods until June 2015, when she sold the show to Christina Hummel, a Pennsylvania antiques dealer, and Kris Casucci, a Massachusetts show promoter and antiques dealer. Fall At Malabar Farm

Saturday morning brought clear skies, a bit of a crisp wind, and a ceiling of puffy clouds that created shadows darting across the north central Ohio landscape. When combined with a near-peak weekend for tree colors, what better time to head to Malabar Farm State Park?

Renaissance Theatre Launches Podcast Series

The Ren is now on the air.

The Renaissance Podcast is the newest artistic expression of Mansfield’s Renaissance Performing Arts Association. On Friday, its first episode was posted through the Podbean platform.

The first episode is entitled “A Conversation with Theodore Kuchar.” As shared on its website, “The Mansfield Symphony Orchestra (Mansfield, Ohio) is in a year-long search for their next Maestro. In this episode, Colleen sits down with the first of three candidates for the Music Director position, Maestro Theodore Kuchar, to discuss his world-wide career as the most recorded conductor in classical music, his love for baseball and fishing, and his childhood in northeastern Ohio.”

Ohio Radio Host Purportedly Pepper-Sprayed, Arrested At OSR

Cleveland media is reporting that Bill Squire, co-host of the popular The Alan Cox Show on radio station WMMS, was arrested early Sunday morning outside of the Ohio State Reformatory’s Paranormal Pentientiary.

CHIP Program Public Hearing On October 25

There will be an informational public meeting for Richland County and the City of Shelby residents (excluding the City of Mansfield) interested in taking advantage of the recently funded Community Housing Impact and Preservation (CHIP) Program.

There will be funds available for owner rehabilitation and minor home repairs. A representative of the Fair Housing Program will be present at this public meeting to answer questions and distribute information regarding housing discrimination issues. This meeting will be held on October 25 at Shelby City Hall Meeting Room, 5 Water Street, Shelby, Ohio at 6:00 PM. Due to security measures, please use the Water Street Entrance. More…
