Today’s edition of Mid-Week Mid-Ohio Music brings another example of the wide range of musical talents that make their home in this part of the state.

This week, we’re turning our attention in a more classical direction.

Mansfield is, after all, home to an excellent symphony orchestra, well-supported concert series at the Renaissance Theatre, St. Peter’s, First Congregational Church, and other venues that showcase choral and other classical music; and several outstanding instrumental and vocal teachers.

We’re the home of Sylvia McNair and others who have gone on to worldwide acclaim.

Here are excellent examples of the high level of talent performing in Richland County on a regular basis. In honor of today’s start of the Bellville Street Fair, we’re heading that direction. This video features Mid Ohio Opera members soprano Heidi Kirschenheiter Vega and soprano Abigail Kirschenheiter Harshbarger, along with pianist Sharon Grimes, performing “Sull’aria” from the Mozart opera “The Marriage of Figaro. This performance took place in May, 2017 at the Bellville Opera House.

As noted in the introduction, this piece was featured in the movie The Shawshank Redemption.
