From our friends at Destination Mansfield:

March in Ohio can be a trying time. You never know what season you’ll get on any given day, but there are plenty of exciting happenings and events around Richland County. Jump start your spring thaw with family-favorite festivals, riveting performances, and outdoor adventures.

The Maple Syrup Festival (March 2,3 & 9,10) at Malabar Farm State Park has been held the first two weekends in March every year since 1977. This free festival will take you back in time to learn the history of sugaring techniques and how maple sap is transformed into maple syrup. Enjoy live music and demonstrations, horse-drawn wagon rides, and free samples of maple syrup. Don’t forget to purchase some gourmet maple products to take home from the Malabar Farm Gift Shop.

Escape to the Greek isles with Mamma Mia! (March 2,3 & 9,10) at The Renaissance Theatre. This Broadway favorite tells the hilarious story of a young woman’s search for her birth father through the toe-tapping music of ABBA. For a theatrical trip to the Caribbean, get your tickets to MY Theatre: Once on This Island (March 21-23) at Theatre 166, The Renaissance Performing Arts Association’s black box performance space. Set in the French Antilles, this one-act musical tells the emotional tale of a peasant girl who uses the power of love to overcome prejudice and social class and unite the people of her island.

This month, you can also catch a performance of On Golden Pond (March 8,9 & 15-17) at Mansfield Playhouse. The Mansfield Symphony Orchestra presents MSO: The Music of Elton John with Jeans ‘n Classics (March 23) at The Renaissance Theatre. Outstanding vocalists, guitars, drums and keyboards will join the orchestra on stage to pay tribute to the timeless music of Elton John.

Get ready for your spring clean-up with the Mid Ohio Home Show (March 8-10) at the Richland County Fairgrounds. Over 100 vendors will be present at this three-day event. March also marks the start of the Richland County Fairgrounds monthly Mansfield Antique Show & Flea Market (March 30-31). Hunt for some treasures or clean out your attic and sell some of your own items as a vendor.

Finally, take part in the annual March tradition of Saint Patrick’s Day with the Saint Patrick’s Day Celebration 2019 (March 16-17) at The Phoenix Brewing Company. The Phoenix will have the classics: green beer, Irish Coffee, Bloody Marys, Pot O Gold Cocktails, an Irish themed menu and live music throughout the month.
