Explore the wild in your backyard! That’s the greeting on the website for the 2018 edition of Mohican Wildlife Weekend, the annual local mega celebration of all things outdoors.

The fun takes place later this month, from April 27 through April 29.

As in years past, Mohican Wildlife Weekend, true to its name, concentrates on places to engage with nature in the Mohican area of Richland and Ashland Counties. This year, that involves 11 program sites, over 30 individual events, and over 250 volunteers.

The festivities kick off with a Welcome Reception at Landoll’s Mohican Castle on Friday evening, April 27, featuring keynote speaker Jacob Coffy. Coffy will speak on his four month, 2,200 mile, 14 state hike on the Appalachian Trail.

Over the next two weeks leading up to the weekend, 1812Blockhouse will be sharing stories on individual Mohican Wildlife Weekend events, and will be collecting social media photos and tweets during the weekend itself. All of these will be featured on a special Mohican Wildlife Weekend page, debuting later this week.

All of this right close to home – in fact, right in your own backyard!

Send us your news — of an announcement, event,
club news, fundraiser – whatever! It’s easy to do online.
