Judy Stahl Forney was elected president of the Mansfield City Schools Board of Education during the board’s 2018 organizational meeting Tuesday evening.

Forney was appointed to the board last February to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Monica Hubbard. Forney, who lives in Mansfield, serves as treasurer and chief financial officer of Mount Vernon City Schools. She previously served two terms on the Lexington Local Schools Board of Education.

A native of Mansfield and a 1967 graduate of Malabar High School, she has a degree in business administration and a master’s in school finance, both from Ashland University.

Forney and Gary Feagin, who was appointed to the board in June 2016 to take the place of Dina Davis who resigned, were elected to four-year terms in November while Chris Elswick won re-election to a third term. All three were sworn in Tuesday evening.

Outgoing board president Renda Cline was elected vice president for the coming year.

Board member Sheryl Weber joined the others as they voted unanimously to return to a format of two scheduled meetings each month on the first and third Tuesdays. In recent years the board had met only once monthly, except for special sessions.

The board’s next regular meeting will be at 5:30 PM on Jan. 16 at the Raemelton administration building.
