Thanks to a new arrangement finalized this morning, students at The Ohio State University at Mansfield will now be able to complete their degree at nearby Ashland University.

An updated articulation agreement between the two institutions is a win for area nursing students and the local healthcare community. Ohio State Mansfield Interim Dean Dr. Norman Jones, Ashland University Provost Dr. Eun-Woo Chang and Ashland University Dwight Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences Dean Dr. Faye Grund signed the revised agreement this morning. It will allow students to complete the first two years of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Ohio State Mansfield and then transition seamlessly to Ashland University to complete the degree.

“There is a high demand for healthcare workers in north central Ohio,” said Dean Jones. “In response to the workforce need, Ohio State Mansfield and Ashland University have come together to provide a pathway to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing locally.”

Ashland University’s Dwight Schar College of Nursing & Health Sciences is located in Mansfield and educates individuals to become health professionals committed to practice, leadership and service.

“This is a unique partnership and we’re very excited to work with Ohio State Mansfield,” said Provost Chang. “Our College of Nursing and Health Sciences is expanding and offering more programs, and this is a great partnership for our community.”

While helping to provide more nurses in Mansfield, the partnership between the two institutions of higher education will also help students who want to complete a nursing degree without leaving home. “At Ohio State Mansfield, we have a lot of students interested in nursing and it’s a growing field in our area,” said Jones. “It’s an important program for us to support.”
