A member of a collegiate football national championship team is coming to Mansfield.

Jamal Luke took a chance on chasing his dream, and it made him a national champion. Luke left Tiffin University and walked on to the Ohio State football team because he knew he needed to pursue his dream of being a Buckeye. He made the team and played wide receiver at The Ohio State University from 2000-2003. Luke was part of the 2002 NCAA Division 1-A National Championship team. Luke will help honor fellow Ohio State standout alumni as the keynote speaker at Ohio State Mansfield’s 2019 Alumni Honors and Campus Celebration.

“We are happy to welcome Jamal as our keynote speaker. Jamal has walked the walk, so to speak, of pushing against the odds to achieve academic and personal success, and now, in Woody Hayes style, he’s paying it forward in sharing his story,” said Ohio State Mansfield Development Director Cindy Wood. “His approach to life is something we want to highlight for our students and alumni as inspiration.”

At the event, exemplary alumni will be inducted into The Mansfield Campus Alumni Hall of Fame. The hall of fame is a way for the campus to recognize alumni and their great works, while connecting these alumni and their stories with Mansfield campus students.

Luke graduated from Ohio State in 2004 with a bachelor of science in education, sport and leisure studies. He has worked as a teacher and a coach, but now owns his own network marketing business.

The Alumni Honors and Campus Celebration event will be held March 28 at 5:30 PM in Eisenhower Hall. Tickets are $25 per person; please call 1-800-678-6011 to RSVP.
