Mansfield Middle School will have registration jointly with Mansfield Senior High on Aug. 10, 11 and 14, then stagger the start of school for seventh- and eighth-graders.

Registration in the Senior High/Middle School commons will be 12 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 10 and 11 and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 14.

Richland Public Health will have personnel in the commons area on Aug. 10 from 3:30 to 7 p.m. to administer Tdap and meningococcal vaccines required for seventh and 12th grades. Students will be required to present evidence of shots to received their schedules. Shots will cost $20 for the first one and $10 for each additional one. The cost will be billed to insurance if a parent or guardian brings an insurance card or a Medicaid card.

School fees are waived for 2017-2018 except fees for rented musical instruments.

Parents and students should bring the following to registration:

— At least three emergency contact telephone numbers.

— Medical insurance information.

— Doctor’s orders to administer prescription medication during school hours. (If needed, this form may be picked up prior to registration starting Aug. 1.)

Seventh-graders only will report to school at the normal 7 a.m. start time on Monday, Aug. 21. The first day for eighth-graders will be 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22.

Seventh-graders will report to the gymnasium for a brief introduction.

“Aug. 21 day is for seventh-graders to become familiar with the middle school layout, their schedules, teachers and procedures for the start of school, end of school and lunch without the added pressure of more students in the building,” said Principal Robert McQuate.

Seventh-graders also will get their locker assignments and combinations while learning expectations for dress code, behavior and academics. “We want seventh-graders to have a feel for what a normal school day looks and feels like,” McQuate said.

On Aug. 22 eighth-graders will first place their things in their lockers then report to the gymnasium for a session similar to what the seventh-graders had the day before. “Anyone with questions regarding the seventh grade-only-day or the first day for eighth-graders may contact the middle school at 419-525-6307 or ask one of the middle school staff members during registration,” McQuate said.
