Lexington Junior High Schooler Maggie Sheridan was the master of cool at the recently concluded 2107 Scripps National Spelling Bee. Here’s video proof.

Her “buzzer beater finish” on spelling the word “whirlicote” garnered her a place in national media profiling interesting moments from the event, held recently in Oxon Hill, Maryland. This story in the Deseret News (Salt Lake City, Utah) is one which ran that story, including Maggie’s amazing moment.

The moment was also tweeted, and can be seen below.

The winner of the National Spelling Bee was Aranya Vinay of Fresno, California. Hearty congratulations to Maggie for reaching the finals and for an outstanding performance!
