Famed A Cappella Choir “The Thirteen” will present Tallis Through the Looking Glass at St. Peter’s Church in Mansfield on Tuesday, October 22 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM (cost: $10). Thomas Tallis, who is considered one of England’s greatest composers, lived in the sixteenth century and performed his works for royalty including Henry VIII.
This concert promises to be a display of virtuosity and artistry. Featured pieces include Tallis’ symphonic-in-scope Gaude gloriosa Dei mater, Benjamin Britten’s touching and powerful Hymn to St. Cecilia, and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw’s Fly Away I.
