It’s not every contest that can lead to a singing date with a full orchestra!

The Mansfield Symphony Orchestra has announced the return of their popular singing contest, which gives local singers of any musical style, whether it be rock, pop, jazz, country, opera, or folk, the opportunity to compete and possibly become a guest soloist with the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra.

Interested singers can submit a video of themselves singing the song of their choosing, in part or in its entirety, at www.rentickets.org/sing beginning on August 15 and extending through November 1, 2019. Online voting will commence on November 2 (at the same link: www.rentickets.org/sing) to select the top 10 finalists, closing at the end of the day on December 1.

From the top 10 finalists chosen through online voting, three to five singers will be selected by the Mansfield Symphony’s artistic team to perform their song on the March 21, 2020 Mansfield Symphony Orchestra concert called “Mash-up.” MSO Music Director Octavio Más-Arocas will arrange the pieces for the orchestra. At “Mash-up”, audience members will vote for their favorite performer, who will be booked again as a guest artist in the 2020-2021 season with the Symphony.

“We have a wealth of local talent in our area, and it’s a tremendous opportunity to showcase these outstanding performers with our symphony,” says Más-Arocas.

The Mansfield Symphony Orchestra is presented as a part of the 2019-2020 OhioHealth Symphony Series.
