State Representative Mark Romanchuk recently announced that the Ohio Controlling Board approved the release of capital funds for various projects in the 2nd Ohio House District which comprises all of Richland County.
According to documents from the Office of Budget and Management, details of the projects are as follows:
I.T. Upgrade at North Central State College: The board approved $753,115.25 for the Technology Upgrades project at North Central State College in Mansfield. This funding will enable the institution to improve its current information technology learning opportunities by replacing outdated equipment.
RAPIDS Program: North Central State College will receive $57,500 to purchase welding equipment through the Regionally Aligned Priorities in Delivering Skills (RAPIDS) grant program. This advanced equipment and infrastructure will provide a state-of-the-art lab for students to gain hands-on experience in the welding program.
North Central State College : Regionally Aligned Healthcare Proposal: The Department of Higher Education received approval to transfer $3,606,352 from the Workforce Based Training and Equipment Fund for grants to support partnerships between businesses and higher education institutions through the RAPIDS program. Part of this transfer will cover $171,112 to North Central State College for equipment purchases as part of the regionally aligned healthcare proposal.
NatureWorks at Shelby’s Black Fork Commons: The City of Shelby received $75,000 through NatureWorks, a grant program that assists local parks projects. The funds will be used for the Black Fork Commons Restroom Project to construct restrooms in the new downtown park area. The Black Fork Commons Park first broke ground in 2014.
Clearfork Valley Local School District: The release of $164 million in capital funds was approved for quarterly draw-down payments to the 41 school districts participating in the school district construction program, including Clearfork Valley Local Schools. The funding will be used for previously approved school district construction projects.
“I was pleased to hear that NCSC, NatureWorks and Clearfork Valley Local School District are receiving funding for upgrades and construction projects,” Rep. Romanchuk said. “This approved funding will bring positive growth to the district while improving the resources and opportunities available to our community.”
