Each week through the end of construction season, we will be sharing the latest road project update from District Three of the Ohio Department of Transportation for work in Ashland, Crawford, and Richland Counties.

This is the project report for work taking place during the week of June 23. It shows ongoing work as well as updates and new projects in both Crawford and Richland Counties.

ASHLAND COUNTY

US Route 42: Bridge Replacement
US 42, between SR 603 and Bowen Rd., is closed for a bridge replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists is US 42 to US 30, east on US 30 to I-71, north on I-71 to US 250, west on US 250 to US 42, and reverse for southbound motorists. A secondary detour route for southbound motorists is US 42 to SR 603, south on SR 603 to US 30, west on US 30 to US 42, and reverse. The road is expected to reopen on Friday, June 28.

State Route 58
SR 58, from US 250 to the Lorain County line, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing and bridge repair project. Work will include signalized lane closures, allowing one lane of traffic at a time through the work zone. The project is expected to be complete in September.

State Route 95
SR 95, over the Black Fork Mohican River, is closed for a bridge replacement project. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 95 to SR 39, northwest on SR 39 to SR 603, south on SR 603 to SR 95, and reverse for northbound motorists. The project is expected to be complete on August 31.

US Route 250
US 250, just west of TR 608 and west of TR 388, is closed for three consecutive culvert replacements. The detour route for southbound motorists is US 250 to US 224, east on US 224 to SR 60, south on SR 60 to US 250, and reverse for northbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on Friday, June 28.

State Route 511
SR 511, from SR 39 to US 30, will have single lane closures for a chip seal project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in July.

 

CRAWFORD COUNTY

State Route 4 ***NEW***
SR 4 in the City of Bucyrus, between Krauter Rd. and  South Sandusky Ave., will have intermittent single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Crews will begin working on curb ramps and catch basins. The project is expected to be complete in August.

 State Route 19 ***NEW***
SR 19, just northwest of Parcher/Campbell Rd., will close Monday, June 24 for a culvert replacement. The detour route for southeast motorists is SR 19 to SR 100, south on SR 100 to SR 309/61, north on SR 309/61 to SR 19, and reverse for northwest motorists. The road is expected to reopen on Friday, June 28.

US Route 30
US 30, between Lower Leesville Rd. and Old Lincoln Hwy., have the left lanes eastbound and westbound closed to traffic. Holmes Center Road, over US 30, is closed for a concrete deck overlay. The detour route for northbound motorists is Old Lincoln Hwy to Bethel Rd., north on Bethel Rd. to Spore Brandywine Rd., east on Spore Brandywine Rd. to Holmes Center Road, and reverse for southbound motorists. Holmes Center Road is expected to reopen in July. Portable barriers have been set so that crews can begin structure work; traffic is shifted onto the right shoulder at the structures. Crews are currently performing pavement repairs on the west end of the project. Work zone speed limits are in effect. The speed limit when workers are present is 55 mph, and 65 mph when workers are not present. The entire project is expected to be complete in October.

State Route 97
SR 97, between Millsboro Rd. and N. Bloomfield Rd. (TR 48), is closed for a bridge repair project. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 97 to SR 288, west on SR 288 to SR 19, north on SR 19 to Millsboro Rd., east on Millsboro Rd. to SR 97, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on Thursday, July 11.

 

RICHLAND COUNTY

State Route 13
SR 13, from the City of Mansfield Corp. limits to the Huron County line, will have single lane closures for a smooth seal project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in June.

State Route 39/State Route 96: Waterline Repair
SR 39/SR 96, at Myers Ave. in the City of Shelby, is closed for waterline repair work. The detour route for westbound motorists is SR 39/SR 96 to SR 61, south on SR 61 to SR 314, south on SR 314 to Old Lincoln Hwy, west on Old Lincoln Hwy to SR 598, north on SR 598 to SR 39/SR 96, and reverse for eastbound motorists. There is no estimated time as to when the road will reopen.

State Route 39: Smooth Seal
SR 39, between SR 430 and the City of Mansfield Corp. limit, will have single lane closures for a smooth seal project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in June.

 Interstate 71
I-71, between CR 32 (Mock Rd.) to the Ashland County line, will have daily/nightly lane closures northbound and southbound for a resurfacing project. The project is expected to be complete in August.

 State Route 97
SR 97, from the Village of Butler to the Village of Bellville, will have daily lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in October.

 State Route 603 ***NEW***
SR 603, south of Mill St., will close Monday, June 24 for railroad crossing repairs. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 603 to SR 13, south on SR 13 to SR 96, west on SR 96 to SR 61, north on SR 61 to SR 603, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on Friday, June 28.
