Each week through the end of construction season, we will be sharing the latest road project update from District Three of the Ohio Department of Transportation for work in Ashland, Crawford, and Richland Counties.

This is the project report for work taking place during the week of August 4. It shows ongoing work as well as updates and new projects.

 

ASHLAND COUNTY

State Route 58
SR 58, from US 250 to the Lorain County line, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing and bridge repair project. Flaggers will be used, allowing one lane of traffic at a time through the work zone. The project is expected to be complete in September.

State Route 60
SR 60, between McKinley Blvd. and Lauretta Ave., will have single lane closures for structure repairs over Jamison Creek. Traffic will be maintained by signalized lane closures. The project is expected to be complete in October.

State Route 95
SR 95, over the Black Fork Mohican River, is closed for a bridge replacement project. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 95 to SR 39, northwest on SR 39 to SR 603, south on SR 603 to SR 95, and reverse for northbound motorists. The project is expected to be complete in September.

 

CRAWFORD COUNTY

State Route 4
SR 4 in the City of Bucyrus, between Krauter Rd. and South Sandusky Ave., will have intermittent single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Crews began pavement planning, repairs and resurfacing on Monday, July 15. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in August.

State Route 4
SR 4 in the City of Bucyrus, from Perry St. to Quaker Rd., will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project beginning Monday, July 22. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times in the four-lane section from Perry St. to US 30. In the two-lane sections, traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in May 2020.

US Route 30 ***UPDATE***

US 30, between Lower Leesville Rd. and Old Lincoln Hwy., have the right lanes eastbound and westbound closed to traffic. The SR 98 ramp to US 30 eastbound will close on Thursday, August 8 for ramp repairs. The US 30 eastbound exit ramp to SR 98 is closed for repairs.

The detour route for motorists traveling on US 30 eastbound to SR 98 will continue east to Old Lincoln Hwy exit, turn left and re-enter US 30 westbound, and then exit on the US 30 westbound exit ramp to SR 98. The detour route for motorists coming from SR 98 is to enter US 30 westbound to SR 4/19, turn left on SR 4, and re-enter US 30 eastbound. The US 30 exit ramp is expected to reopen on Friday, August 30. The SR 98 ramp to US 30 eastbound is scheduled to reopen on Friday, September 6 (Note: From August 7 to August 30, both eastbound entrance and exit ramps will be closed at SR 98).

Holmes Center Road, over US 30, is closed for a concrete deck overlay. The detour route for northbound motorists is Old Lincoln Hwy to Bethel Rd., north on Bethel Rd. to Spore Brandywine Rd., east on Spore Brandywine Rd. to Holmes Center Road, and reverse for southbound motorists. Holmes Center Road is expected to reopen before school starts in August. Work zone speed limits are in effect. The speed limit when workers are present is 55 mph, and 65 mph when workers are not present. The entire project is expected to be complete in October.

 

RICHLAND COUNTY

US Route 30 ***NEW***
US 30, from just west of the Lexington/Springmill interchange to the SR 309 interchange, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Daily/nightly lane closures will tentatively begin Monday, August 12. Lane widths will be reduced to 11’ in each direction during the duration of the project. The project is expected to be complete in August of 2020. 

US Route 42
US 42, from Grace St. in the City of Mansfield to Baney Rd. in the City of Ashland, will have intermittent lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in October.

Interstate 71 ***UPDATE***
I-71, between CR 32 (Mock Rd.) to the Ashland County line, will have daily and nightly lane closures northbound and southbound for a resurfacing project. Crews will have nightly lane closures northbound and southbound for smoothness profiling and deck sealing.The project is expected to be complete in August. 

State Route 97
SR 97, from the Village of Butler to the Ashland County line, will have daily lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in October.
