The Mansfield Area Y has joined YPurchasing, the 50th to do so, solidifying the purchasing group’s position as the largest and fastest growing YMCA group buying organization in the nation.
Since its founding in 2015, YPurchasing.com has become the fastest growing group savings organization for YMCAs, representing nearly 600 locations nationwide, but the 50th member marks a special milestone. When YMCAs join YPurchasing, they become not only members, but part-owner and a valuable asset to the active YPurchasing community. Headed by CEO Terry McElfresh, YPurchasing is governed by a Board of 9 YMCA executives which include the YMCA’s of Atlanta, Houston and Nashville to mention a few. Serving as Special Advisor is Daniel E. Woodside, whose extensive GPO experience has been invaluable to developing the purchasing co-op. McElfresh and Woodside are two highly recognizable names among group purchasing organizations.

YPurchasing’s mission is to leverage aggregate buying power and lower costs on indirect products and services for their member YMCAs, regardless of their size. The Louisville, Kentucky based organization contracts with specific vendors for pre-negotiated pricing for its members. Categories include: fitness equipment, waste, office supplies, mats, linens, coffee, janitorial supplies and pest control. In addition to lower purchasing costs, members receive a rebate at the end of the year, based on YPurchasing’s residual profit.
YMCA organizations across the USA have a collective annual spending budget of over $1 Billion on hundreds of products and services, with fitness equipment being the most popular. YPurchasing is the leading channel where individual YMCAs take advantage of major savings through the power of group buying.
