The love story On Golden Pond opens a two week run this Friday at the Mansfield Playhouse.

The play by Ernest Thompson is the story of Norman and Ethel Thayer, who return to their summer home on Golden Pond for the forty-eighth year. During the year the story takes place, they are visited by daughter Chelsea with her fiancé Billy Ray and his son Billy Ray Jr. The play explores the often turbulent relationship the young woman shared with her father growing up, and the difficulties faced by a couple in the twilight years of a long marriage.

The play was adapted for the screen written by Thompson in 1981. The film On Golden Pond was released in December 1981, directed by Mark Rydell & produced by Bruce Gilbert with Henry Fonda, Katharine Hepburn and Jane Fonda in the starring cast.

  • Friday, March 8 – 8:00 PM
  • Saturday, March 9 – 8:00 PM
  • Friday, March 15 – 8:00 PM
  • Saturday, March 16 – 8:00 PM
  • Sunday, March 17 – 2:30 PM
