It’s starting to feel a bit less like summer, which means fall is almost here.

The Shelby YMCA, 111 W Smiley Avenue, has scheduled several events for a fantastic fall:

Fall Craft Show (October 12, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM)
Crafters and vendors will be on hand to kick off the fall season. This could even be used as an opportunity to do some early Christmas shopping. Visitors will be able to complete a craft show passport to qualify to win a prize. The craft show allows visitors to find one-of-kind pieces for their home. Vendors can still register; the registration form is available online at shelbyymca.org.

Trunk or Treat (October 22, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM)
A safe and fun family event, where local businesses and families open their trunks and decorate them in the Shelby YMCA parking lot. A grand prize will be given out. Kids are welcome to “trunk-or-treat” by visiting the trunks and gathering candy. Vendors can still register; the registration form is available online at shelbyymca.org.

John Gurney Turkey Trot (November 28, Thanksgiving Day)
The Shelby YMCA’s annual Thanksgiving day Turkey Trot is held in honor of John Gurney. John left a tremendous impact on the Shelby Community with his generous spirit of giving. Originally a morning run with a few friends, this has become a community run inspired that assists Shelby Helpline. Donations, in the form of cereal, are requested. The run starts at the Shelby YMCA, where participants can drop off their cereal box donation and start their run. There is NO registration fee or process, just show up and enjoy the morning before the afternoon Thanksgiving feast!
