The City of Mansfield has announced that milling and paving is scheduled to take place along selected downtown streets later this week.

Kokosing Construction Co., contractor for the 2019 Mansfield Street Resurfacing Program, will be doing this work on the following streets:

  • Fourth Street from Mulberry Street to Diamond Street
  • Mulberry Street from Second Street to Fifth Street
  • Library Court from Mulberry Street to Walnut Street

This work will be performed on Thursday and Friday, July 11 and 12, weather permitting. The work will predominately be performed during evening and night hours. There will be no parking on Fourth Street after 10:00 pm on Friday, and motorists are urged to use caution in the construction area at all times.

The downtown work is part of this year’s overall City of Mansfield Street Resurfacing Program. Each year, every street and alley is independently inspected and dated to determine its need for improvement, and pavements with the most physical distress are presented to City Council for approval.

In the 2019 Program, some 20.79 miles of roadway will be resurfaced. Construction began in April and will be substantially completed by September 27. Streets in the vicinity of a school will be completed prior to the first day of classes for the 2019-2020 school year.

The cost for this summer’s resurfacing is $ 4,696,274.40, which is funded by the City’s ¼% income tax.
