The talented local youth who make up the Mansfield Symphony Youth Orchestra will give their spring performance entitled “Pomp and Circumstance” at the Renaissance Theatre under the direction of Randy Heidlebaugh on Sunday, May 6 at 3:00 PM.

The concert will feature the winners of the Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition, flutist Mary Longsdorf of Ashland High School, performing Concertino for Flute and Orchestra by Cecile Chaminade and Wyatt Boggs, a percussionist from Clearfork High School, performing his original work, Percussion Concerto No. 1. Other selections featured on the concert will be Zampa Overture by L. J. Herold; Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 by Edward Elgar; St. Paul’s Suite, Mvt. 4 by Holst; and On Top of the World by Brian Balmages.

“This concert will be a celebration dedicated to our graduating senior members of the Youth Orchestra, as they are preparing to accomplish one of life’s major goals, graduating from high school,” shares director Randy Heidlebaugh.
