The Pearl Conard Gallery at Ohio State Mansfield is presenting an exhibition by artist Omid Sherkari.

Entitled “Not too far away,” it will be featured from Tuesday through February 10 at the Gallery, located in Room 145 of Ovalwood Hall, 1760 University Drive, on the campus of OSU Mansfield.

Sherkari is an Iranian artist who has closely lived through recent events in the Middle East. The artist recently stated “My work has been focusing toward representing people’s relationships and reactions to events. Instead of being specific, I try to make some stories, which globally talk about these feelings that repeat during the human history.” Shekari received his MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia in 2016, and his BFA from Soore University, Tehran, Iran in 2011

He is the 2016 recipient of the Fleisher Art Memorial Award, and his work is in the collections of the Woodmore Art Museum in Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Museum, the Pennsylvania Concention Center, and the Balchik Museum in Bulgaria.

Hours for the exhibition will be Monday–Thursday from 11 AM–4 PM, Friday from 11 AM – 2 PM. The gallery is staffed by student workers, so hours may shift. A Closing Reception and Meet the Artist event will take place on February 9 from 12:35 PM to 1:30 PM.

Admission to this exhibition is free and open to the public.
