The Renaissance Theatre’s 2018-19 Richland Bank Broadway Series continues this weekend with the second weekend of the award-winning, Avenue Q on the Renaissance stage.
Directed by Michael Thomas, Avenue Q is part flesh, part felt and packed with heart. The laugh-out-loud musical tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton, who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that, although the residents seem nice, it’s clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. There, he meets Kate (the girl next door), Lucy (the slut), Rod (the Republican), Trekkie (the internet entrepreneur), superintendent Gary Coleman (yes, that Gary Coleman) and other new friends! Together, Princeton and his newfound friends struggle to find jobs, dates and their ever-elusive purpose in life.
The cast of Avenue Q includes local talents Ryan Shreve, Maddie Beer, Condrea Webber, Colton Penwell, and Patrick Clinage.
Avenue Q may have puppets in the lead, but is recommended for mature audiences due to topics of sexuality and drinking.
Tickets for the Friday and Saturday night shows are $35 and are on sale at the Renaissance Box Office, via phone at (419) 522-2726, and online at MansfieldTickets.com.
