Mansfield Senior Alum A Leader At Grand Valley

When the season ended for Grand Valley State University’s football squad this past weekend in the NCAA Division II Quaterfinals, some 17 seniors saw their last action as Lakers.

Three County Teams Are Playoff-Bound

When the OHSAA state football playoffs begin this week, three Richland County teams will be represented.

Senior Alum Contributes To Marietta Win

A graduate of Mansfield Senior High School is a key part of the Marietta Pioneers football squad this season, and this past Saturday, helped the team in a lopsided 66-23 victory over Wilmington College.

Jakkar Bishop, a sophomore at Marietta, set the tone for the win with an opening, 33 yard kickoff return giving the Pioneers excellent field position.

So far this season, he has had four returns totaling 91 yards. More…

A Unique Season At Mansfield Town Football Club

Mansfield’s Sister City in England, Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, boasts an English League Two soccer team, the Mansfield Town Football Club. Known traditionally as “The Stags” or “The Yellows,” the team has played at venerable Field Mill (now “One Call Stadium”) since 1910.

Currently the squad stands 9th in the standings for the 24 team league. Each team plays each of the other clubs twice (once at home, once away) and is awarded three points for a win, one for a draw and no points for a loss. It is from these points a league table is constructed. More…
