The Mansfield-Richland Area Education Foundation, also known as the “Chamber Foundation”, has announced that Bill Sharp will retire from the organization in October where he has served as the Director since 2000.
In this role, Sharp has overseen a number of highly successful programs such as Leadership Unlimited, Young Leaders Institute, Economic Club and Inside Richland County. This week, media representatives from around the country will join in Philadelphia for the 2016 American Society of News Editors (ASNE) News Leadership Conference. Attendees will participate in workshops, seminars, and other events designed to share the best of new ideas in 21st century journalism.
Included among those presenting will be a Mansfield-based media publisher. Jay Allred, publisher of Richland Source, will be part of a panel presentation on Monday morning entitled “Startups and Reboots.” According to the conference website, scheduled to join Allred will be Sybril Brown, a journalist and professor from Belmont University; John Harris, co-founder and publisher of the noted website POLTICO; Kevin Merida, Senior VP and Editor-in-Chief of The Undefeated; and Sharon Waxman, CEO/founder of The Wrap. The Women’s Fund of the Richland County Foundation celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Since its inception, the Women’s Fund has awarded 137 grants to local nonprofit organizations that support women and girls and 29 scholarships to women who are non-traditional students attending local colleges totaling over $285,000.
