Last week, a mini-milestone took place here at 1812Blockhouse that went completely unnoticed by us. Unnoticed, that is, until we were loading stories for Monday’s edition and the post counter showed 2,514.

That’s 2,514 individual items posted on the site since it launched on September 8, 2016.

This in turn means that sometime last week, we shared our 2500th item – as near as we can determine, it was an item talking about the detection of West Nile Virus in a Richland County mosquito. We wish that something a bit more pleasant had been the focus of that post. Still, it was certainly newsworthy.

It’s been a crazy busy year at 1812. We’re still kicking, still enjoying reaching out to regular readers, and still committed to our original vision. We have a few things up our sleeve as our second year anniversary nears. There has been more than one planning session on that front in the last handful of days.

Speaking of planning, please feel free to drop us a line anytime at: [email protected]. Tell us what you’d like to see covered, ideas you might have for the site, or feel free to just say “hi!”

Send us your news — of an announcement, event,
club news, fundraiser – whatever! It’s easy to do online.
